Some of you may know of my own journey to try different products to help my skin. It’s been an uphill battle to say the least, trying harsh chemical laden products over the years to try to improve my skin. I have been troubled by inflammation, prone to clogged pores and acne and discoloration. And nothing helped. In fact it made it worse. I’ve found that ditching those harsh chemicals opened the door to healthier skin. Now, I make my own preservative free natural skin serums that have dramatically improved the quality of my skin.
The secret to truly natural skin care is that it’s made in small batches, has zero preservatives, no parabens, cold pressed natural oils and no fillers. Its free of harmful phthalates and dyes too. It’s pure natural goodness, and the properties of each ingredient are what make a gentle elixir for your skin. The ingredients that are in my natural serums are the key! As an ingredient detective, I pour over labels and look past the hype to see what the good and the bad ingredients are. I research, and then research some more. I never thought of myself as having sensitive skin, but after taking out all the bad stuff, I can see my skin thrive! Let’s take a closer look at some of the ingredients I have come to discover. Rose Hip Seed Oil Is one of my favorites. It comes from the wild rose plant and is cold pressed without chemicals to provide a nutrient dense oil rich in vitamin C and a strong anti aging and anti-oxidant. Why is that good? It’s all natural super light, super nourishing and non-greasy. This oil’s skin care benefits come from its high antioxidants and ability to penetrate into deeper layers of the skin, where it can improve moisture levels and reduce visible signs of aging. I have even picked my own pesticide free rose hips, dried them and infused them in carrier oils like almond, high oleic sunflower and olive oils to make a sublime ingredient like rose hip oil.
Pomegranate seed oil is another cold pressed oil packed with natural qualities to help our skin flourish. It’s deeply moisturizing and loaded with antioxidants, which are great for warding off premature aging. Pomegranate seed oil may also boost collagen production, enhances the skin’s elasticity and has anti-microbial properties. Because of all of these nourishing characteristics, it’s a popular and possibly advantageous oil amongst those who may be suffering from inflammation, acne, psoriasis, eczema or other types of skin disorders. The number one reason why I love Pomegranate Seed Oil is because it may help to reverse sun damage. It does so by stimulating cell turnover, revealing younger-looking skin. Does anyone else suffer from dark discolored patches like me? If so, say goodbye to skin discoloration and hello to a fresh and more youthful complexion!. The second reason I love pomegranate seed oil so much is because it’s full of powerful polyphenols that fight free radicals, which in turn may help keep wrinkles at bay! The oil is also packed with fatty acids, the omega-5 fatty acid in particular, which may help with keeping the skin hydrated and plump. Without moisture, fine lines can become more pronounced, so it’s important to keep those pores quenched.
Tamanu oil is another nut oil like almond, rich in fatty acids and is an effective anti-oxidant. It may help with wound closure, skin cell growth, and collagen production. All of these can help with healing. It’s also been found to protect against UV rays and the damage of the sun.
Calendula infused almond oil is a light golden oil that penetrates quickly into your skin. I grow my own calendula, pesticide free in my garden and infuse into into oils. Calendula is great for the skin. It may be beneficial for dry skin, cracks, eczema, scrapes, minor burns and sunburns, rashes, chapped lips and pesky bug bites. It helps to reduce inflammation and promotes wound healing. I love to put in in body butters, lotion bars and even lip balms and healing skin salves.
Learning more about these natural oils has been my passion and I’m so excited to share my findings with you! it doesn’t have to be expensive or full of harsh chemicals to be an effective skin serum that improves your skin. I’ve developed and formulated products that are freshly made and don’t sit on trucks or warehouse shelves for months and months. Always, always read your ingredient labels! Know what they are and what good they do for your skin. The EU had banned over 3000 toxic products from this personal care category and the US bans only 11 for the same category! Buyer beware, buyer be educated and buyer be empowered!
If you are looking for a product that is a natural alternative to industrialized skin care, I hope you consider my Rose Hip Facial Serum. No dyes, no phthalates, no palm and no soy or mineral oils. We’re talking only the great stuff in here, like my own garden grown pesticide free calendula infused Almond oil, pomegranate and rose hip seed oil oil for their amazing anti-aging anti inflammatory and collagen producing properties and tamanu oil for its ability to heal and soothe skin! Your skin will fall in love!
